Taupo Golf Marrowthon

In 2010, golfers completed the 100 Hole Challenge raising a record-breaking $125,000 for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation (LBF). At the 2010 event, Taupo Mayor, Rick Cooper, welcomed the full field of 44 participating golfers to Taupo and to Wairakei’s beautiful golf course.

And for the first time, the event included corporate teams. The PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Bell Gully staff have supported the LBF over the past five years in numerous ways. In 2010, the accountants and lawyers held internal competitions and fundraised in creative ways to raise a combined $55,000 for the LBF.

The event raised funds for the LBF’s Patient Support Services programme which provides regular home and hospital visits and contact, education sessions, printed information and an online information forum for patients and their families living with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related blood conditions.

The Golf Marrowthon 100 Hole Challenge is a unique charity golf event. Golfers from all handicap levels are welcomed to test their skill and endurance in the ultimate challenge of playing 100 holes in a single day. The event has been held previously seven times at locations such as Auckland Airport, Tirau and Clearwater in Christchurch.
